1990s • 1990: 300,000 hosts & 1000 News Groups • ARPANET ended, spreads its network to other companies. • ‘Archie’ was established as 1st search engine • 1992: “Surfing the Internet” • 1993: WWW was established • 1995: “dot-com bubble” begins • Netscape Browser • 1996: Enter Microsoft • 1997: 19.5 Million hosts, 1 Million WWW sites, > 71,000 News Groups
