The Kindle • E-books: Fiction, Early Years, health, sociology, counselling, cyberbullying, research methods • Loan period: 7 days with one renewal • Deposit: £5.00 • Fines:No fines but deposit refund reduced if late • Voice activation: Useful for students with a visual impairment. A screen reader enhancement is available from Amazon

The I-Pad • Device: I-Pad not 3G due to cost of contract • Apps: I-books, Kindle plus a range of curriculum apps • Links Ebrary and the Online catalogue • Subscriptions Require the credit card details each morning so only use downloads e.g. Metro News • Loan period: Initially a project loan(6 weeks) for tutors. Now a 1.5 hour loan for students within the centre as well. • Wifi Guest wifi access required if not 3G • Security Add a tattle tape within the cover Remove the credit card details
