Support/Development workers • 11 People are employed to support DPG’s • They work for 7 different organisations or are self employed • People are paid different wages • Some people do similar jobs • But some people have very different jobs
Current Costs of the Partnership Board and DPG’s
The Government says: The Partnership Board is there to make sure the things in Valuing People Now happen. • The Partnership Board review said: • The Partnership Board should • Bring partners together • Make sure they can talk and work together • Decide what needs to happen to make the lives of people with learning disabilities better
Guidance issued as part of Valuing People Now suggests Partnership Board membership as below • Director of Adult Social Services • Chief Exec of PCT • Local Authority Members • Non-Exec Director of PCT • People with learning disabilities • Family carers of people with learning disabilities • Head of Commissioning • Ass. Director Children’s Services • Strategic Housing Lead • Jobcentre Plus District Manager • Voluntary Sector Representation • Provider Representation
The review said… Local Groups (DPG’s) are NOT • Speaking upor self-advocacy groups. • Social groups. • Part of a day service programme. • Service providers.
The review of the partnership board said…. Local Groups (DPG’s) are there to • Make sure Valuing People Now happens in Kent • Make sure that the Partnership Board listens to people with learning disabilities and their families at a local level • Find out what is happening locally and reporting that back to the Board • Be actively involved locally • Support the work of delivery groups to make sure • things happen. (Housing, Health, Jobs, etc)

Things we need to do • Dissolve LD Strategic Board • Make sure that KCC and NHS continue to work together • Link Kent LD Partnership Board to Kent Partnership (via the Health & Wellbeing Board)
Timetable • Present to Kent Partnership Board (January 2011) • Request that Cabinet Group oversee changes (January 2011) • Look to tender for support for local networks (DPG’s) – (February to April 2011) • Reshape Partnership Board (July 2011) • Reshape Governance (July 2011) • New structure in place (August 2011)
