  1. Warm Up: 1. Take out your work from yesterday. Skim over the poem, and then read over your SIFT notes (paying special attention to the theme statement). Now, consider what we’ve read so far in Things Fall Apart. Thematically, how do the two works connect? Write 1-2 sentences to explain.

  2. Agenda • Drill and review. • Read chapter 20 as a class. • Discuss.

  4. Discussion Questions • What does Okonkwo plan for his return to Umuofia? What do you think of those plans now? • How does he justify his disowning of Nwoye? How do we know of his strong preference for Ezinma? • What are some ways that the white men had changed Umuofia? • Obierika seems to have accepted the changes in their village now that the white men have taken over. However, Okonkwo does not seem to be as accepting? What could this foreshadow?
