About Me … I graduated from Baylor looking for a career with variety, fast pace, and high growth – all possible with a career in Information Systems • December 1994 Baylor grad • Husband of 11 years • Father of two boys (Nick and Joe) • Principal with Credera; lead Management Consulting practice • Completed 34 marathons from 1997-2011

About Me … My career has taken a few twists and turns, but the common thread has always been using technology to solve business problems • 9 years with Accenture • Worked on SAP, business process improvement, etc. • Worked in consumer goods, oil & gas, natural resources, industrial goods, and chemicals industries • Started as an Analyst and progressed to Senior Manager • 3 years with Safety-Kleen • Internal consultant in charge of all Finance / Accounting IT-related projects • Reported directly to CFO • 4 years with Credera • Principal / Practice Lead – Management Consulting • Run Credera’s Community Service project efforts • Develop IT / Business Strategies, Define business process improvements, and run large and small scale projects • Lead 16 highly motivated consulting leaders delivering business-driven technology projects to clients focused in Dallas, Texas, but serving across the nation

About Me … My career has taken a few twists and turns, but the common thread has always been using technology to solve business problems • 4 years with Handango • Worked with leading technology companies including Microsoft, Motorola, and HTC • Worked directly with Google to increase Google Maps for Mobile footprint in US and abroad • Created project plan and time line for website redesign • Had an opportunity to see the country (and part of the world) attending technology trade shows • 2 years with IRIO Mobile Marketing • Redesigned business processes, from contract execution to account management • Provided recommendations and QA for user portal and new technology features • 1 year with Credera • Consultant • Projects have included eCommerce strategy for a multi-billion dollar company, and training for technology project at a Fortune 1000 company

  9. Careers in MIS … Where could I be in three years with a degree in MIS? Meet Kevin … • Graduated with a degree in MIS in 2008 • First Year • Created user-friendly screens over SAP and BizTalk interfaces and created a page to support Google Maps API • Involved in client discussions, including the CIO • Worked side-by-side with a senior consultant for OTJ training and a member of a 5 person project team • Second Year • Created a mobile application and a rich interactive web application • Part of a team of 4 people that designed, developed and implemented a mobile solution that won Tradeshow Executive magazines Innovation of the Year Award • Participated in requirements gathering, design, development, and testing • Facilitated meetings with C-Level executives (CIO, Executive Vice-Presidents, etc.) • Third Year • Building an interactive mapping solution • Leading project engagement for this segment of work

MIS Provides … There is no “model” MIS career, but there are several features that MIS majors can enjoy • Starting Salary: $50k - $60k [source glassdoor.com – Dallas, TX starting salaries] • Variety: Growth opportunities & challenges • A blend of dynamic skills that can be used in almost any position • A business drivenapproach to technology • High demand and rapid growth • Average IT Salary = $87,838 [ComputerWorld Survey]

IT Careers in Today’s Economy … Graduating into today’s economy is a daunting prospect for many students, but the war on talent for IT-minded students will be fierce Layoffs Continue to Mount NEW YORK -- The job market has been a giant seesaw in 2011 -- just when things are looking up, another piece of data disappoints and sentiment dips back down.
