Iroquois Indians. Six Nations Cayuga , Mohawk, Oneida, Onondaga, Seneca and Tuscarora . Known as the ‘ Six Nations ’. Iroquois lived in longhouses - large enough to hold a family of 30 to 60 people - open space was left at the top for smoke to escape.

  3. Iroquois lived in longhouses- large enough to hold a family of 30 to 60 people- open space was left at the top for smoke to escape

  4. Dresses were made from deerskin- women wore skirts, vests and moccasins- men wore deerskin breechcloths

  5. Men hunted deer and other game- they called beans, squash, and corn "The Three Sisters".

  6. The Iroquois Indians held six big festivals- New Year Festival in the winter- Maple Festival in spring- Corn Planting Festival- Strawberry Festival- Green Corn Festival and- the Harvest Festival of Thanksgiving

  7. Sacred Bowl Gamewas played during the last day of the "Ceremonial of Midwinter"

  8. Iroquois Indian sometimes askedthe False Face Society to drive away the spirit of the illness or injury
