Today’s Goal: Learn how to analyze the structure and purpose of a magazine article. Outcomes: Describe what is meant by “text features.” Name and identify 14 different text features. Apply your knowledge by identifying where to find specific types of info.
Starter #1: What are text features? Text features are any elements in printed work (including websites) that help the reader gain a better understanding of information. Can you name some text features? Titles, headings, graphics, captions, maps, charts, index, glossary, table of contents Today we are going to analyze a magazine article. By using the article’s text features, we can: 1. Determine the purpose for the article 2. Gain a better understanding of the information it provides. Let’s turn to p. 53 in our Lit text.
