  1. The Evolution of Logos • A company’s logo definitely plays a very important role in getting any brand recognized. • People remember a brand mostly because of a logo. • Logos help people in differentiating between brands.

  2. The Evolution of Logos • It is very important for all business owners to associate their brand with a well-designed logo that can stay into people’s mind for a long time. • Logos are constantly evolving with the passage of time and to cater the needs of today.

  3. Apple • Apple introduced their first logo in 1976 with an image of Sir Issac newton discovering gravity.

  4. Shell • Shell’s logo has seen a lot of evolution ever since 1900, when it was first introduced. • As of now the design has been redefined a little with no text in the logo.

  5. Microsoft • The Microsoft logo was introduced in 1975 where it was written as ‘Micro-soft’ however, soon the hyphen was removed from the name and a distinctive O was introduced. • The new logo had a cut in O which gave it a name of pacman logo.

  6. Volkswagen • Introduced in 1939, the logo looked like a gear however, the logo evolved with the ending of World War II.  • The gear and bumped teeth were removed and later in 2000, the logo was colored into blue from black.

  7. Nike • The logo now is a fine example of simplicity as it contains only a Nike swoosh and is still so recognizable.

  8. Pepsi • Pepsi’s logo has witnessed countless changes ever since 1898. • By 1972, they transformed the bottle cap with using blue, white and red color and thanks to this evolution. • Today Pepsi’s logo is that stripped circle.

  9. Wal-Mart • Walmart’s logo has been pretty much the same since 1962 as they prefer the name of their brand over any design. • They have been changing colors every now and then and the final version has the company’s tagline with it with a yellow star symbol.

  10. Logos with Hidden Meanings • Professional logo designers know that there is much behind a logo than simple text with an image or symbol thrown on it. • They want to make something unique, something that is exceptional, something with a deeper meaning.

  11. Fed-Ex • Look between the “E” and the “x”, yes, there is a white space which makes an arrow. • The arrow represents speed and precision.

  12. NBC • There is a peacock in the middle, in white color. It was quite obvious years ago, but now the peacock is a bit tough to spot

  13. Goodwill • Have you ever noticed that the “g” in “goodwill” and the smiling face look quite similar? Yes, they are same!

  14. Big Ten • There are now 12 schools in the Big 10, but when the logo was designed there were 11. • The conference didn’t want to change its name, so they added the logo magic! • You can see two 1′s by the each side of ‘T’.

  15. Baskin Robbins • Baskin-Robbins is famous for having 31 flavors, one for each day! • So they have incorporated the ’31′ in pink color in their ‘BR’.

  16. The Pittsburgh Zoo • You can see the tree, but the sides of the tree have a white space, which makes up a monkey and lion staring each other.

  17. Atlanta Falcons • The Atlanta Falcons logo is a really cool looking bird, which also makes the shape of a big letter “F”.

  18. Amazon • Amazon logo is not only smiling but notice that the arrow goes from “a” to “z”. • Yup, Amazon has everything from A to Z.

  19. Milwaukee Brewers • The glove is actually made up of the letters “b” and “m”.

  20. Hershey’s • Hershey’s kisses logo has to be big for you to notice it, but just see what lies between the “K” and the “I”.

  21. Assignment • On the front of your folder, design a logo that best describes and represents you. • Remember people need to look at this logo and be able to easily recognize what/who the logo represents.
