  3. What is a prescription discount card? • A prescription discount card is NOT insurance. Rather, it is a simple way to save money on prescription medicine not covered by insurance. • As with other discount cards, the card cannot be used in conjunction with another prescription card program, but will provide a benefit to those whose current program may not cover specific brand name medications or may provide a greater discount than their current programs.

  4. Who can use the FREE Lehigh County prescription discount card? • No limits • Everyone is eligible • Never expires! • No age or income restrictions- you do NOT need to be a Medicare beneficiary to enroll • Insured, uninsured or underinsured • Use the card to compare prices with current insurance prescription programs • Medicare Part D participants • Good for your entire household, even pets!

  5. How do I use the Lehigh County card? • Simply present the card along with your prescription at a participating pharmacy: • 9 out of 10 pharmacies nationwide accept the card • 100 pharmacies throughout the Lehigh Valley accept the card • For a list of participating pharmacies visit www.lehighcounty.org or www.caremark.com/naco • Use mail service for prescription medicine delivered to your door: • Call toll-free 1-877-321-2652 and ask for the FastStartSM service to get started over the phone • Or print a mail service form from www.caremark.com/naco and follow the instructions

  6. How much can I save? • Save an average of 20% off the pharmacy’s regular retail price of prescription medicine • Additional savings can be received on generic medicine – average savings of 30% off the pharmacy’s regular retail price • Actual savings varies by drug and pharmacy For an estimated price for medications go to www.caremark.com/naco

  8. Where can I get a card?

  9. FAQs • Will I always save 20 percent? • The Lehigh County Prescription Discount Card provides an average savings on 20 percent off the pharmacy’s regular retail price. Savings will vary by drug and pharmacy. • Will I always receive the lowest price? • Yes. You will receive the best price available to you through this program at the pharmacy. On occasion, pharmacies will price a particular medication lower than the discount rate provided by the card. If that occurs, you will receive the lower price. • Can I really use the card for pet prescriptions? • Yes, prescriptions that are prescribed for human conditions -- as well as for pets -- can be purchased through this program. Ask your veterinarian for a prescription to present with your card at a participating pharmacy.

  10. FAQs (cont.) • Can I use my prescription discount card with my current insurance benefit to reduce my costs? • Your card cannot be used in conjunction with another insurance benefit. However, you are able to use your card to purchase prescriptions that are not covered by these plans or where a greater discount would occur with the card. This includes drugs not covered by a Medicare Part D Plan. • How is this prescription discount program different from traditional prescription insurance? • This plan is not insurance; it is a prescription discount program. The card provides immediate discounts at the pharmacy. Upon presenting your card to the pharmacist, you will pay the lower of a discounted price or the pharmacy’s regular retail price. There are no claim forms to fill out and no limit to the number of times you can use the card. These discounts are available only at participating retail pharmacies or through the Caremark Mail Service Pharmacy.

  11. FAQs (cont.) • Can I use my card to get discounts on over-the-counter products and non-prescription medications? • Not usually. However, discounts are available for many diabetes supplies. • I just received my card. Can I use it right away? • Yes, use your card to start saving immediately. Present your prescription discount card at a participating retail pharmacy when you fill or refill your prescriptions. • Can I find out the discounted price of my prescriptions before going to the pharmacy? • Because prices can vary by location, only the actual pharmacy can tell you the exact price of the prescription. However, you can look up an estimated price for medications at www.caremark.com/naco • Were can I go for more information • www.lehighcounty.org or visit www.caremark.com/naco • Call the Lehigh County Information and Referral Unit at • 610-782-3200. • Call toll-free 1-877-321-2652, open 7 days a week
