  2. Introduction • The Iditarod race started because the sick kids needs meds and they used the sled dogs to get the meds to Nome.

  3. Musher • Dallas Seveay • Bib number 45 • He is 27 years old • His hometown is Willow, Alaska • He was born in Virginia

  4. DOGS • They wear booties • Harnesses • Huskies • Dallas has 16 dogs

  5. Routes & Checkpoints • There are 17 Checkpoints this year. • There are 1049 miles

  6. Awards • Red Lantern-presented to the last musher to finish the race . This years winner is; Marcella Fressin. • The truck award is when the winner get a truck • Well Fargo bank Alaska Gold Coast Award – present to the first musher to reach the “ Gold Coast “ community of Unalakleet
