History of Moi University • Established as the 2nd Public University in 1984, focusing on Science & Technology • Officially inaugurated on December 6, 1985, and started with a SINGLE FACULTY (Forestry) • Today has: • 15 Schools (Undergraduate/MSc/PhD) • 7 Directorates • 5 Campuses outside Eldoret

Structure of Courses • Medicine & Dentistry – 6 years • Comminity based education (COBES) from: 2nd year through to 6th year: internship in community and health facilities. • 1yr internship in hospital after 6th year (mandatory for all graduates) • Engineering – 5 years • 3rd Semester: 2nd year (workshop practice), 3rd & 4th (internship), Final year engineering project • All others – 4 years • Semester system – 16 weeks x 2 sessions (Excluding a 3rd Holiday semester of 12 weeks)
