PING PONG REMIX : WIRELESS Steve had worked on the the original Ping Pong project and although the original Ping Pong paddles were great and all, there were limitations 1. Wires were too long 2. Ping Pong is played all over the room 3. Computer has to be configured to setup paddles 4. A sound box is needed for each paddle 5. Hard to change sounds
PING PONG REMIX : WIRELESS This is a flash re-presentation of how it our paddles will work. Ping Pong Remix : Wireless
PING PONG REMIX : WIRELESS Solution: Wireless Paddles! In order to make our ping pong to work wirelessly, we have decided to use plain old Radio Frequency (RF) Serial Communication. RF transmitters sends bits on pulses of radio energy, and what attracted us to RF frequency is it’s flexibility. RF unlike Infrared serial is omnidirectional and can go greater distances, even through walls. This makes it great for our ping pong application In order to differentiate the signal from ambient radio or light waves, the data is sent on carrier wave. Actual information is encoded by slightly varying the frequency of the carrier wave (FM) or signal strength (AM). What we are using for our paddles are the Laipac Transmiter & Reciever
PING PONG REMIX : WIRELESS What we used: RF Transmitter@433.92MHz. RF Receiver@433.92Mhz PIEZO BUZZER: Red is to Power Blue is to Analog Black is to Ground Peizo is glued under the rubber on the Paddle using Gorilla Glue
PING PONG REMIX : WIRELESS We redid the paddles. Rubber on the paddles were stripped open as well as the wood on the handles.
PING PONG REMIX : WIRELESS Peizo buzzers were soldered
PING PONG REMIX : WIRELESS Hole was cut in the middle of the handles to fit in the wires that were soldered to the peizo buzzers
PING PONG REMIX : WIRELESS Piezo Buzzer is placed under the rubber of the ping pong paddles
PING PONG REMIX : WIRELESS Buzzered paddles are clamped down and left to dry overnight. Reciever box was re-designed Transcievers are now placed in a little pouch.
