  2. He was born on February 12, 1809 in a cabin in Kentucky.

  3. He loved reading when he was a child and would walk miles just to borrow a book.

  4. He worked as a storekeeper, postmaster, and surveyor when he was in his 20’s. After that he began practicing law.

  5. He married Mary Todd. Slavery was happening in the South at this time.

  6. This man thought slavery was wrong. He became president in 1861 and the United States had a Civil War soon after. It was the North versus the South.

  7. He signed the Emancipation Proclamation and ended slavery.

  8. He is Abraham Lincoln!
