The philippines and its strategic location in the world • Philippines is part of a wide world • home of the Filipino people • its beautiful and strategic location show that the Filipino are blessed by God • rich natural resources, tropical climate, beautiful scenery bring hope to the Filipinos • inspire them to take good care of the resources for the welfare of the next generation

  3. The shape of the earth • people believed that the earth was a flat land with water in some of its parts • belief changed after the studies conducted by several scientists • Aristotle and Pythagoras said that the earth’s shape was that of a sphere

  4. in the third century, Erasthotenes of Cyprene gave the size of the earth, but it was not the exact size

  5. research and studies continued in order to find out the exact size and shape of the earth • Sir Isaac Newton conducted a research • proved that the earth is not exactly round, it is oblate spheroid

  6. In 1735, the French conducted their studies and they agreed with what Newton had said • Sebastian Del Cano – proved that the earth was not flat - travelled with Fernando Magallanes
