  3. DANCING DANCING I. WHAT DOES THE NT SAY? C. Delicately (Jas. 5:5): “To give oneself up to pleasure” (Vine). D. Modesty, shamefastness & sobriety (1 Tim. 2:9). E. “…Whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.” (Mt. 5:28) F. So, while there is no verse that says, “Thou shalt not dance”; there are clear principles which apply!

  6. DANCING DANCING II. ATTEMPTS TO JUSTIFY DANCING E. “Dancing Is Not Sexual!” 1) Would boys be interested in dancing if only boys were going? 2) What if we turned off the music & let the dancers continue the same movements? Is it still “not sexual”?

  7. DANCING DANCING III. DIFFERENT KINDS OF DANCING A. Joy & Victory (Ex. 15:20-21; Judges 11:34; 1 Sam. 18:6; 2 Sam. 6:12-16; 1 Chron. 15:29; Ps. 30:11; Eccl. 3:4; Lk. 15:25; Jer. 31:13). 8. DANCING DANCING IV. APPLICATION A. Authorized realm for sexual behavior is in a proper marriage relationship. (Heb. 13:4) B. Parents, teach your children a “hands off” policy! No dancing. No making out. Confine such passionate behavior to scriptural marriage. 1. It will preserve their purity now. 2. Make their marriage unique & valuable. 3. Save their souls from a very popular sin!

  9. DANCING DANCING IV. APPLICATION C. Things connected with dancing: 1. Balls, School Dances, Proms. 2. Cheer leading, Ballet. 3. Parties, Weddings, Anniversaries, etc. “For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye abstain from fornication; that each one of you know how to possess himself of his own vessel in sanctification and honor, not in the passion of lust, even as the Gentiles who know not God” (1 Thess. 4:3-5).
