  3. Objectives: Building capacity by means of: • Exchanges of scientific researchers • Development of research projects and technology transfer • Training of graduate students

  6. Exchanges of scientific researchers: • VAST researchers at INRS (2 to 3 months): 15 + • VAST researchers at INRS (1 to 2 weeks): 15 + • INRS researchers at VAST (1 to 2 weeks): 10 +

  7. Development of research projects: • Treatment of heart disease with scorpion venon biomolecules (AUF financial support, 2004) • Studies of shrimp parvovirus in Vietnam (AUF financial support, 2006-2007) • Integrated management of Câu river watershed (CIDA financial support, 2006-2011)

  8. Technology transfer: Projects supported by Vietnam Ministry of Science and Technology: • Treatment of swine manure (Institute of Tropical Biology, VAST, HCMC) • Treatment of wastewater sludge (Institute of Environmental Technology, VAST, Hanoi)

  9. Training of graduate students: 2005: Eight (8) young researchers from VAST enrolled in INRS’s programs (3 M.Sc., 5 Ph.D.) 2006: Agreement between VAST and INRS for Ph.D. joint training programs (2½ years at INRS, 1½ years at VAST) (approved by Vietnam Ministry of Education and Training, MOET) 2008: Six (6) Ph.D. joint training programs candidates from VAST 2009: Four (4) Ph.D. candidates from VAST

  10. Partnership financially supported by: • Ministère des relations internationales du Québec (2002-2006) • University of Québec (2003-2006) • AUF (2004, 2006) • CIDA (through AUCC, 2006-2011) • Vietnam Ministry of Education and Training (2008-…) • Vietnam Ministry of Science and Technology (2010-…)
