  1. WHAT IS THE EFFECT OF CROWDING ON PLANTS ?

  2. Our Team # 8 Lizette Guerrero Regina Jaramillo Andrea Bravo Lizeth Solis H.

  3. A seed needs the right conditions to begin growing. • When the seed has the right amount of oxygen and water, and the right temperature, it sprouts. • Seeds need to have enough room to grow.

  4. We wanted to know what the effect of crowding on plants would be. So we made an investigation.

  5. 10 A 50 B First we planted some sunflower seeds in two small cups. We filled each cup with garden soil. They were the same size. The only difference was the number of seeds.

  6. 10 A 50 B We planted 10 seeds in cup A and 50 seeds in cup B

  7. We watered the seeds in each cup every two days 4 days.

  8. Six days later we saw that the sunflowers seeds were beginning to grow.

  9. Eight days later, we could see a few plants in cup A and more plants in cup B.

  10. Ten days later, we observed that the plants had been growing. They were taller and looked pretty.

  11. Twelve days later, the plants in cup B were more crowded than the ones in cup A, but they looked healthy in both cups.

  12. Fifteen days later, the plants in cup B, were too croweded.

  13. Seventeen days later, the plants in cup B were wiltered and they couldn´t continue growing.

  14. Our conclusion was that plants can’t grow well if they are too crowded. They need to have enough room to grow.
