  1. Cover Picture Proclaiming Jesus Acts 13:14-43 (Part 2)

  2. Acts 13:13-14 13 Now Paul and his companions put out to sea from Paphos and came to Perga in Pamphylia; but John left them and returned to Jerusalem. 14 But going on from Perga, they arrived at Pisidian Antioch, and on the Sabbath day they went into the synagogue and sat down.

  3. What is the gospel? The GOSPEL is the good news concerning what God has done to defeat the impact and influence of sin, Satan and even death itself through the substitutionary work of Jesus Christ on the cross. The GOSPEL is not about what we do or can do for God, but rather it is about what God has done for us in Jesus.

  4. Romans Outline Romans 1-3 “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (3:23) Romans 4-5 “For if by the transgression of the one, death reigned through the one, much more those who receive the abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.” (5:17) Romans 6 “1 What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin so that grace may increase? 2 May it never be! How shall we who died to sin still live in it?” (6:1-2)

  5. Three Non-negotiables for Effective Evangelism 1. GO “Go to where the people are” 2. TELL “Tell the people the truth about Jesus” 3. LEAD “Lead the people to respond”

  6. What do we need to “tell” people? • Who God is… • Who man is… • What sin is… • Who Jesus is… • How to respond to Jesus…

  7. III. Lead people to a response (Acts 13:38-43)

  8. How to lead a person to respond to Jesus… 1. Offer them the forgiveness of God (13:38-39) 38 Therefore let it be known to you, brethren, that through Him forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you, 39 and through Him everyone who believes is freed from all things, from which you could not be freed through the Law of Moses.

  9. Romans 4:4-5 4 Now to the one who works, his wage is not credited as a favor, but as what is due. 5 But to the one who does not work, but believes in Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is credited as righteousness,

  10. Come, ye sinners, poor and needy, weak and wounded, sick and sore; Jesus ready stands to save you, full of pity, love, and power. Come, ye thirsty, come, and welcome, God’s free bounty glorify; True belief and true repentance, every grace that brings you nigh. Let not conscience make you linger, nor of fitness fondly dream; All the fitness He requireth is to feel your need of Him. Come, ye weary, heavy laden, lost and ruined by the fall; If you tarry till you’re better, you will never come at all.

  11. How to lead a person to respond to Jesus… 2. Offer them the warning from God (13:40-41) 40 Therefore take heed, so that the thing spoken of in the Prophets may not come upon you: 41 'BEHOLD, YOU SCOFFERS, AND MARVEL, AND PERISH; FOR I AM ACCOMPLISHING A WORK IN YOUR DAYS, A WORK WHICH YOU WILL NEVER BELIEVE, THOUGH SOMEONE SHOULD DESCRIBE IT TO YOU.'

  12. How to lead a person to respond to Jesus… 3. Offer them the time to ponder Jesus (13:42) As Paul and Barnabas were going out, the people kept begging that these things might be spoken to them the next Sabbath.

  13. How to lead a person to respond to Jesus… 4. Keep the focus on the grace of God (13:43) Now when the meeting of the synagogue had broken up, many of the Jews and of the God-fearing proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas, who, speaking to them, were urging them to continue in the grace of God.

  14. Three personal resolves • Resolve to be prepared for action! Resolve to ask God for open doors!

  15. Colossians 4:2-3 2 Devote yourselves to prayer, keeping alert in it with an attitude of thanksgiving; 3 praying at the same time for us as well, that God will open up to us a door for the word, so that we may speak forth the mystery of Christ, for which I have also been imprisoned…

  16. Three personal resolves • Resolve to be prepared for action! Resolve to ask God for open doors! Resolve to speak about Jesus anytime the opportunity arises! Go *** Tell *** Lead
