SDMX – IS: • A Standard that provides automated communications from computer to computer through a specific model by using technical means • Model, that describes the statistical data and metadata • Technical means, that support standardized IT tools For the application of SDMX the first need is: • Agreement between data provider and recipient (joint decree) • Data and metadata exchange process is created by using a common description for a common understanding (common data structure, metadata structure, common classification) • General description tools of the data and metadata exchange should be available to all participants in the data and metadata exchange process Agency of statistics of the Republic of Kazakhstan, 2014

THE ROLES OF PARTICIPANTS: DATA PROVIDERS AND RECIPIENTS Data providers Produce and disseminate : - Statistical data, - Structural metadata - Reference metadata • Data recipients • (authorized FP (focal point person) on the conduction of common information environment): • Develops a framework, data and metadata formats • Determines and approves classifiers, reference books • Provides an advice to the data provider Data provider FP №3 Data provider FP №1 Data provider FP №2 Agency of statistics of the Republic of Kazakhstan, 2014

SDMX REGISTRY CONTENT (UNIFIED STORAGE) • Data structure –tables, formstemplates • Metadata structure – metadata description templates • Agreement on the provision - a joint decree • Code lists - used classifiers, reference books • IT – tools (transfer converter from different formats into xml and others) Agency of statistics of the Republic of Kazakhstan, 2014

  10. Provides an unified storage of all elements involved in the statistical process (statistical indicators, classifications, data and metadata structures). Provides detailed information on the statistical indicator that facilitates the understanding of statistical information by the user. Automates the processes by developing common tools that can be used by all statistical organizations in order to improve their activities.
