  3. Why we do it ? Partially sighted Kariem shows a big smile if his hands are even faster then the eyes of his parents Very shy Annette proudly presents a magic show to all her class mates Seriously ill Kim learned magic tricks and partly forgets why she is in the hospital

  4. Aim of Magic Care To apply the art of magic to children which are mentally or physically handicapped, as a therapy to increase their self-confidence

  5. Aim and Means For the child the aim is to learn a magic trick For Magic Care it is a way to improve the social / emotional development of the child

  6. Projects for groups of children • with educational problems • who can not be kept at home • from an asylum centre • with mental retardation • with a visual handicap • who are detained • with epileptic and immune problems • with behaviour problems • with war traumas • with burns • in hospitals

  7. Magic as Therapy • To increase the self-confidence and self-respect • To stimulation the creativity and social skills • It is a way to escape from their handicap

  8. Methodology • Improvement of presentation skills • Improvement of social skills • To acquire positive experience in a group

  9. Basic starting points • The unique and positive aspects of every child and the ability of personal development. • In this way Magic Care can contribute to the mental health of vulnerable groups of children in The Netherlands and abroad.

  12. Show and Workshop / The programme • Magic show for the whole group • Take the oath of secresy • Learning tricks (technical aspects and presentation) • Presentation of the acquired tricks for the whole group • Awarding of a diploma and instructions
