What is the GHD-NET? • The Global Health Diplomacy Network brings together researchers and practitioners with the common goal of improving capacity for health diplomacy. • We believe that better health negotiations can improve global health.
Background • WHO with the Rockefeller Foundation identified major capacity gap. • Some countries & stakeholders are not in a position to be actively engaged. • 2009: Bellagio Global Health Diplomacy Dialogues • Participants agreed that such a network could contribute to address this gap.
Vision • All parties and stakeholders have the capacity to be fully engaged and in a position to influence the outcome of negotiations • Understanding of the cross-cutting linkages between population health and the many facets of foreign policy. • Not only able to assess the options being discussed, but also to put forward their own proposals.
