The Monroe Doctrine • James Monroe was worried European countries may try to re-colonize the new Latin American countries. • He stated that United States would not tolerate European powers interfering in Latin America. • The Monroe Doctrine was an effective bluff.
The Presidency of Andrew Jackson • Jackson served two terms from 1829-1837. • As a man who rose from humble beginnings, he urged all citizens to vote. • Unfortunately, his presidency would be marred by his policies on Native American relocation.
