Pollution Prevention Approach to Compliance Efforts (PACE) • Promote greater investments in P2 solutions to to meet environmental compliance requirements • Focus on a preventive vs. reactive approach • Engage early and often with planners, operators and process owners • Minimize life cycle costs/impacts READINESS

  4. Environmental and Energy Efficiencies (E3) • Independent programs -- same mission • Improve collaboration -- apply an integrated decision-making approach • Promote more efficient use of resources to achieve mutual benefits and common goal READINESS

  5. Sustainable Design and Development • Sort out the “Sustainable _____ ” alphabet soup • Incorporate SDD concepts and principles into facilities and infrastructure projects/processes • Minimize life cycle costs/impacts READINESS

  6. Sustainable InstallationsReadiness Campaign • Independent components already established; systematic coordination and integration needed • MCB Camp Pendleton: identified and elevated encroachment concerns • MCB Camp Lejeune: developed a model “Environmental Sustainability Guidance Manual” • Support Tools/Facilitators: EMS and GIS READINESS
