  3. Members’ Interestin Renewable Energy • Types of Inquiries • Investor- Looking to save and /or make money off a renewable energy system • Environmentalist- It’s the right thing for the environment • Tinkerer- Got an idea for producing renewable energy • Info Seeker- Just want to lean more

  4. What We Hear From Members • Payback on renewable system is short • They don’t cost that much • Simple installation process • No maintenance • Free money available from the government

Have a Plan forRenewable Energy Inquiries • Have at least one employee educated and dedicated to speaking with members on renewable energy basics • Have informational brochures or packets available • Know what area vendors and manufacturers are saying about renewable energy • Have an idea on state and federal incentive programs • Know your company’s official stance on renewable energy

  7. Renewable Energy Seminar Wind and Solar • November 11, 2009 • 6:30 pm to 9:00 pm • Local elementary school (moved from office) • 183 people attended • 2 speakers • 17 employees • 164 guests (92 members plus spouses)

Renewable Energy Agenda • Educational seminar on small wind and solar energy systems • Understand members interest in renewable energy • Environmentalist • Tinkerer • Investor • Explain advantages and disadvantages of wind and solar in Southwestern Ohio along with the basic concepts of each • Review data from our solar project and wind turbine in Ohio • Discuss energy efficiency as an alternative investment • Geothermal program and loan program for energy efficiency projects such as: new heat pump, insulation, or new windows

  9. Promoting the Seminar • Bill Insert • Country Living statewide magazine • Office flyers • Web site • E-newsletter

Survey Results • Overall the renewable energy seminar was beneficial- 70% agreed • Seminar was educational and answered many of my questions- 70% agreed • Do you plan on installing a windmill or solar panel in the next year- 1% yes, 35% maybe • Do you plan on installing a windmill or solar panel in the 2-5 years- 10% yes, 60% maybe
