  17. Managing Wireless Sensor Networks SIP is a good signaling protocol in telephony, but it is also foreseen by Siemens as an ideal candidate to manage home appliances. We can use it to report device status (up or down). We may also use SIP to notify end devices about configuration changes. With the SIP-Web-Integration Platform developed in our lab, users can send SIP controlling commands through a PHP webpage, via a web browser running on a smartphone or computer. In addition to ZigBee, we are also implementing the same management mechanism onto 6LoWPAN devices.
