  3. Process • Where to start? • Made contact with National Park Cam • How was the site done? • Who developed the web page? • What equipment is needed? • Costs? • Contacted web site developer (ARS) • Gave idea of what we wanted • Put together web design and equipment package • Purchased equipment

Process Cont… • Needed Site • Wanted to have recognized landmark • Needed a tower for the cameras • Building for equipment • Found • Partnered with WXII TV • Tower and building on Sauratown Mountain • View of known landmark, Pilot Mountain • Put cameras on transmission tower w/ help • Put computer and other hardware in building

Operation • Pictures taken every 30min during daytime • Cameras to site computer • Site computer via ftp to hosting site • Picture along with air quality and weather data • Nephelometer was added in 2004 • Site visited every 2 weeks and/or as needed • Maintenance • Download pictures • Nephelometer zero/span check

  6. Other Uses • Display at SciWorks • Reference on local news during bad air quality episodes • Reference in Daily Air Quality Forecast • National Recognition • NACo award
