  8. AND THE WINNER IS... Turn n Tender was founded on the 1st of April 1977 by the four Aaron brothers, Mervyn, Steven, Howard and Brian. Our first shop was situated in Greenside, we then opened Balfour Park. In November 1982, Turn n Tender Braamfontein was opened and soon became the flagship of the Turn n Tender group. For many people the Braamfontein store was considered to be an institution and you will always get people telling you about their experiences there. After selling the property in Braamfontein in 2003, The Mini Tender Steak Boutique was launched in Emmarentia. Even with the name change, this particular store soon became famous in its own right.

  14. AND THE WINNER IS... Blue Feather, a fine dining restaurant and bistro, is the newest addition to Andrew Anderson’s group of companies. This exquisite new eatery, located in the heart of Midrand, is set to become the ‘talk of the town’. The theatre-styled kitchen produces a 7-course menu that will take your taste buds on a journey of enlightenment. Executive Chef, Mitch Clark, has worked in the kitchens of world renowned chefs and has cooked for some of the most discerning guests. Mitch, supported by his Pastry Chef James, has food-pairing down to a fine art. The ambiance is enhanced by subdued lighting, unobtrusive background music, and the sound of the many cascading water features.

  32. AND THE WINNER IS... With a play on words the sign on the door says “Ciropractor - Taste bud manipulation and stimulation”. This is precisely what Ciro Molinaro has been doing for the last 10 years with lots of passion and enthusiasm, but no fuss or pretence. Besides his excellent culinary skills, Ciro is also an engaging and charming host and the restaurant exudes an old fashion charm with its soft painted walls, assortment of wrought iron chandeliers and window seating with lots of plump cushions. The open plan kitchen with its array of gleaming saucepans, maybe compact, but it is a hive of activity with Ciro at the helm.

  44. Licorish is owned by Jacques Fourie and Aki Hadjipetros, both of whom have travelled extensively to combine their knowledge of food, flavours and wine. Jacques Fourie is also the executive chef and is actively involved in the conceptualisation and delivery of the menu. Licorish bistro’s menu is a unification of contempory classics and modern South African with a strong Cape Malay influence. Bredies, Boboties and sosaties are some the flavours that are incorporated into Jacques dishes to create a unique and flavoursome meal.
