Holy Spirit is a Person He has Intellect • 1 Cor. 2:10,11 – He searches, He knows • Rom. 8:27 – He has mind, Ability to think • 1 Cor. 2:13; Jn. 14:26 – He has ability to teach
Holy Spirit is a Person He has Emotion • Eph. 4:30 – He has grief He has Willpower • 1 Cor. 12:11 – Distributes gifts as per His determination • Acts 16:6-10 – Deter Paul not to go
Holy Spirit is a Person • Jn. 16:13 – He guides, speaks, hears • Jn. 16:8 – He convicts the world • Acts 8:39 – He took Philip away • Rom. 8:26 – He helps in our weaknesses

Christian Assurance • Universalized presence of the Holy Spirit • Holy Spirit internalizes the presence of Jesus (Eph. 3:16,17) • God’s seal branding us as to belonging to Jesus (Eph. 1:14; 4:30) • Assures in our hearts that God is our Father and that He loves us (Rom. 5:5; 8:15-16)
Three stages of salvation • Justification– Penalty of Sin • Sanctification - Power of Sin • Glorification - Presence of Sin
Comes from the word sanctify means “to make holy” Holy Spirit enables a person to grow in purity. Through sanctifying power of Holy Spirit the believer grows in obedience to God and in righteousness and in holiness. Rom.8:11; 15:15; 1Pet. 1:2
It is a second experience after regeneration • It was promised in the Old Testament (Joel 2:28,29) • Introductory statement of John the Baptist about Jesus’ ministry (Matt. 3:11; Mk. 1:8; Lk. 3:16; Jn. 1:33)
It is initial and physical evidence of baptism in the Holy Spirit • It is a promise for all believers (Joel 2:28,29) • Only experience that repeated after the Day of Pentecost (Acts 2:1f) • It is the external symbol of receiving the fullness of Holy Spirit in a believer's life (Jn. 7:37-39)

Can edify himself (1 Cor. 14:4) • Can edify the church, if there is interpretation (1 Cor. 14:5) • It can be a sign for unbelievers (1 Cor. 14:22)
