Welcome to SNMA! As chapter president, you are now an extremely important asset and programmatic resource to the organization. In that spirit, you also have a great deal of responsibility.
Responsibilities of the SNMA Chapter President • Maintain regular communication with your chapter members and encourage their involvement in chapter activities. • Maintain regular communication with your Regional Director and other members of the Regional Executive Board. • Understand the importance of the delegation of tasks and authority, and motivate chapter members to take on leadership roles.
Responsibilities (2) • DOCUMENT, DOCUMENT, DOCUMENT community service projects, events, initiatives, and finances. • Maintain your proper contact information (address, email, and phone) in the membership records at National Headquarters. • Oversee the maintenance of your chapter roster and the submission of that information to the National Headquarters. • Distribute and advertise particular membership benefits, scholarships, announcements, newsletters, events, and other opportunities that are available from national and regional leadership to your chapter members.
Responsibilities (3) • Oversee your chapter’s participation in Regional and National Conferences. • Represent SNMA in a positive manner to your university and administration. • Oversee your chapter’s completion of at least one national protocol. • Oversee your chapter’s fundraising efforts. • Along with other members of your chapter, serve as a resource to your chapter’s MAPS chapter(s).
Importance of Documentation • Allows each chapter to assess what was done over the year. • Allows each chapter to measure effectiveness of what was done and identify areas for improvement. • Recruit new members of SNMA. • Provides rationale for chapter funding. • Provides new avenues for community service projects. • Serves as a morale booster. • Creates publicity for your chapter on a local level. • Makes the jobs of the national officers and National Headquarters staff easier. • Provides information for successful transitions.
Each chapter must submit: • Chapter Reports • Quarterly Financial Statements (QFS)
