Scenario • Major weather event in NE Oklahoma including several tornadoes. • An F-5 tornado rips through two Tulsa suburbs and then crosses the Arkansas River and hits south Tulsa and Broken Arrow. • Two large medical centers are severely damaged and forced to transfer all patients to other facilities. • The National Disaster Medical System (NDMS) is activated and several flights are scheduled to come to San Antonio. • A major local event will also send emergent care to our facility.
SAMCEE 13 • Objectives: • Validate UHS Surge capacity plans to include Triage, Patient Movement, Patient Tracking • Test well-organized Hospital Command Centershift change with zero situational awareness loss or negative mission impact • Successful reception of an Ambus at the Emergency Center • Efficient use of the Hospital Incident Command System and CommandAware by Hospital Command Center Staff
Points of Interest • Fifty health career student volunteers acting as patients. • Mulage will be utilized to add realism. • Volunteers will be triaged at the EC and processed to the appropriate locations within the hospital. • Will be from approximately 8 am to noon.
