Project Overview • Professor Malcolm Swan: the most effective way of teaching mathematical skills is to teach using collaborative methods. • The project is designed to support the delivery of functional maths/numeracy teaching, with an emphasis on collaborative and innovative teaching methods. • Develop student’s ability to demonstrate mathematical thinking and problem solving.
Project Aims and Outcomes Aims: • To support the sector to expand the quantity and quality of its maths/numeracy provision. • To equip tutors with the practical skills and confidence to use active and collaborative methods in teaching functional skills. Objectives: • The creation of a comprehensive package of teaching and learning materials which address the nationally identified difficulties that students have with functional maths.
