  2. History part • This section answer these questions: • Name and briefly describe three major historical events of Egypt • What colonial power ruled this country? • How was independence achieved? • A brief biography of a famous person from Egypt.

  3. Major Egyptian events • Final Israeli withdrawal from Sinai 1982 . This happened because Israel was fighting with Egypt over the canal Egypt had in the Sinai peninsula. Then the president of the Untied States at that time got both leaders to sit down make an agreement at that time. • 2686 BC : it was the first pyramid built in Egypt. It was built by Imhotep • 196BC: The Rosetta stone is carved

  4. Colonial powers • the most recent colonial power that controlled Egypt was the British empire • This is only one of the many colonial powers that ruled Egypt over it history.

  5. independence • Full Independence was achieved in the year 1922 under the rule of king Faud. • This event happened after WWII

My famous person from Egypt • I will be doing Abbas the first for my famous person from Egypt. • Born in the year 1812 • His uncle was part of the government of Egypt and Sudan. • He is famous for the railway from Alexandria to Cairo • He earned three awards. • He was killed later by two of his slaves.

  7. Culture • This part will answer these three questions: What are the prominent tribes in your country and give a brief description. What are the traditional musical instruments of your country? What food do people traditionally eat and serve at home?

Tribes and their description • There are three major tribes, which they are: Bedouin: They are the desert dwelling Arab ethnic group Nubian: Arabic ethnic group originally from northern Sudan Ghawazee: a group of dancers from the Nawari people (Also know as gypsies) Berber: history is extensive and diverse ancient ancestors settled in just inland of Mediterranean sea to the east of Egypt

  9. Traditional musical instruments • Harps • Flutes • Double clarinets • Lyres • lutes • Cymbals • Recorders • Regular clarinets

  10. Traditional food • Baba: made with eggplants, chickpeas, lemon juice, salt, pepper, parsley, cumin, oil • Du’aah: dry mixture of chopped nuts, seeds, middle eastern spice • Kofta: usually lamb meat ,chop and minced meat on skewers grilled on charcoal

  11. Religion • This part will tell you the main religions of Egypt and will answer these question: • Describe each main religion with basic facts • Describe a unique aspect of main religion • How is each religion practiced in your country

  12. Main religions • Muslims: Islam • Christianity

  13. Islam • began in 600A.D • Quran is the bible • One of the three major religion • Followers called Muslims

  14. Christianity • holy book is called the bible • Created in 430A.D • Has 12 deciples of god • created out of Judaism

  15. The unique aspects • Islam : • The gods name is Allan • Muhammad was the main priest • Christianity : • The largest religion in the world • They believe gods son was sent to save them from their sins.

  16. Practiced in my country • The way Christianity is practiced in my country is by going a Orthodox Church. • The way Islam is practiced in my country is that Muslims practice Islam with a religious preacher in the country side.

Economy • This part of my PowerPoint will answer these questions: • What are the main industries in your country? • What are the main agricultural products produced in your country? • What are the main natural resources found in your country? • How does the GDP of your country compare to the untied states?

  18. Main industries • Tourism • Cement • Chemicals • Steel industries • Textiles and clothing • (Textiles is a cloth or woven material)

  19. Agricultural products • These are the products that is shipped out from Egypt the most: • Corn, wheat , cotton, beans, fruit , cattle

  20. Main natural resources • These are the natural resources: • Petroleum, Natural gas, Phosphates, Gold and Iron Ore.

  21. GDP comparison • USA: 15.1 Trillion • Egypt: 500.9 billon • My comment: • That is actually pretty close , I was surprised to see that it was this high so not bad for Egypt compared to the US.
