Experimental Facilities Trust Fund • Context: • Need to baseline project and fix cost estimates before the selection process for project beamlines will be complete. • Approach: • Create Experimental Facilities Trust Fund that will fund the beamline activities within the project. Size of trust fund has been informed by the detailed cost estimates performed for various beamlines as part of the CDR process. • Note: Similar approach used at other facilities, e.g. SNS, with DOE approval

Experimental Facilities Trust Fund • Scope: • Beamlines, front ends and insertion devices • (21 m of DW are currently included elsewhere in project costs) • All costs, including design, procurement, construction and commissioning. • To fund an initial suite of beamlines • These beamlines will be chosen in the coming ~ 1-2 yrs and will be BATs that are part of the construction project. • Current trust fund (may change): Total trust fund = $35.3 M = $61.0 M (direct: unburdened, unescalated, no contingency) (burdened, escalated, and contingency) +$11.42 M (direct) for 21m of DW outside of trust fund

  4. Summary • A trust fund has been created within the project for funding the beamlines. • Based on cost estimates in hand, this is enough to build out ~5 beamlines - depending on the character of those beamlines.
