NATIONAL CODE OF ELECTRICITY & STANDARDS PERU Ministry of Energy and Mines Approves the standards of electrical facilities, with the purpose of safeguarding the security of people, the facilities and the other installations. Approves the National Code of Electricity DGE’ sstandards and DGH’s standards. The CEC is the antecedent or the reference of the National Code of Electricity (Antecedent)
NTP Peruvian Standards TECHNICAL REGULATIONS & PERUVIAN STANDARDS Peruvian Standards (NTP-IEC) The NTPs-IEC are approved by INDECOPI. Currently, the Technical Regulations and the National Code of Electricity do mandatories the Peruvian Standards. Technical Regulation MANDATORY National Code of Electricity
TECHNICAL REGULATIONS PERU Ministry of Production • Promotes the Standardization and implementation of Standards among the manufacturers, in order to improve their competitiveness. • Makes, approves and supervises the application of the Technical Regulations. • Evaluates and registers the Conformity Assessment Bodies, in order to ensure the compliance of the Technical Regulations. PERU Ministry of Economy The Ministry of Economy is responsible for promulgating the Technical Regulations.

(2005-12-30) Art. 5° Requirements of Labeled and Sampling Sampling of each batch Determination of the batch Acceptance of the batch Art. 7° Conformity assessment Conformity Certificate Certificate Stamp or Conformit Mark Came into effect on July, 2006
NATIONAL CODE OF ELECTRICITY - USE GENERAL 020-024 Use of Approved Materials and Equipment The materials and equipment used in electrical installations, must count with approval by the competent Authority, and to be of the kind, type and nominal value that correspond to the specific intention (purpose) for which it must be utilized. 020-108 Installations Execution Quality All electrical installation must be made by qualified and authorized personnel, using certified products and applying the Code rules (regulations), in such a way that the quality is acceptable.
NATIONAL CODE OF ELECTRICITY - USE Section 080: Protection and Control 080-000 Scope This Section covers the protection and control for circuits and electrical apparatuses. Note 1: It must be complied with the corresponding Peruvian Standards: NTP-IEC 60947-2 NTP-IEC 61008-1 NTP-IEC 60898-1 NTP 370.308
PERUVIAN STANDARDS - NGV NTP 111.019 Service station of natural gas vehicular 12.1.10 The entire electrical system of the dispenser shall be intrinsically safe or explosion proof according to NFPA 70. 16.1.12 All electrical installations usually located where flammable gases may be present, such as the area of dispensers, NGV compressor and storage, must conform to the requirements of the National Electrical Code (Peruvian), NFPA 70 or NFPA 52.
NATIONAL CODE OF ELECTRICITY - USE 110 Hazardous locations 110-004 Classification Class I locations are those in which flammable gases or vapours are or may be present in the air in quantities sufficient to produce explosive gas atmospheres Class II locations are those which are hazardous because of the presence of combustible Class III locations are those which are hazardous because of the presence of easily ignitable (Antecedent)
NATIONAL CODE OF ELECTRICITY - USE Divisions of Class I, II and III, locations Class I Zone 0 Zone 1 Zone 2 Low probability area of explosion Division 2 Zone 2 Division 1 Division 2 Class II Zone 1 Zone 0 Division 1 Division 1 Division 2 Class III High probability area of explosion Graphic comparison of Class I, Division 1 and 2 with Class I, Zones 0, 1 and 2
NATIONAL CODE OF ELECTRICITY - USE Section 110: Hazardous locations 110-050 Electrical equipment (1) Where is required the approval of the equipment for the class of Hazardous Locations, this equipment must be approved for the gas, steam, fog or dust that could be present. 110-052 Marking (Labeling) The equipment destined to Hazardous Locations Class I must be marked with the following symbols: (a) The symbols Ex or EEx; and (b) Symbols to indicate the method or methods of protection used; (c) Symbol of the gas group, as it is specified in Rule 110-050(2); and (d) Symbol for the nominal temperature, in agreement with Sub-regulation (4), for equipment of the type that produces heat.
PERUVIAN STANDARDS OF CABLES AND ELECTRICAL WIRES
PERUVIAN STANDARDS OF DEVICES OF PROTECTION AND CONTROL
SUMMARY • Several IEC standards are adopted by Peruvian Standards, but we will start the adoption of TC-31 standards by 2014. • The hazardous locations classification is regulated by the Electrical Code. Classe I (Zones 0,1,2), Classe II and III (Divisions 1, 2). • Currently, there are not both the certification of electrical products and the conformity assessment procedures; however, usually it requires the certification in the country of origin. • The regulations on Explosive Atmospheres, cover in general way but not sistematically, the entire life cycle of plants containing hazardous areas; by means of compliance National Electrical Code and the regulations of the Hydrocarbons General Directorate.
