  2. What is Teaming? Teacher Teaming- Is the organization of 2 or more teachers from different disciplines who share the same group of students and share the responsibility for curriculum, instruction and evaluation of those students.

  3. Types of Teaming in the Middle School • Multidisciplinary Approach • Interdisciplinary Approach • Transdisciplinary Approach

  4. There are the 6 C’s of Teaming 1. Communication 2. Competency 3. Commitment 4. Compromise 5. Cooperation 6. Confrontation

  5. Communication Members of the team must be able to express themselves freely, openly and be assured that others care and are listening.

  6. Competency Each member must be competent and knowledgeable in their area of curriculum and be willing to share their expertise.

  7. Commitment members of the team must be committed to the process of teaming members will be willing to commit to new group ideas instead of doing, “ what we always do”

  8. Compromise team members have to be able to create an approach that allows for new ideas. This means being flexible with ideas and sometimes giving in to others ideas instead of your own when necessary.

  9. Cooperation members have to be willing to get along and work together.

  10. Confrontation members of the team should be able to question and confront each other on expectations, decisions and policies of the team without being intimidated

Typical Team Meeting •Students of concern: at-risk, gifted, struggling, etc. •Honor Level reward planning •Field Trip planning •Interdisciplinary activity planning •Technology tips •Reviewing letters sent home by principal •Meetings with Guidance Counselor and/or School Psychologist •Parent/Teacher conferences

  12. Student Teaming - All students in one particular grade are divided into smaller student teams. - These teams work and rotate between the same teachers. - This idea is very useful in larger schools - Allows for teacher teaming to occur and succeed.

  13. Creating a Team! - We will put you into groups of 5 or 6 - Your team will create a team name, mascot, and teaching philosophy for your shared group of students. - Your team will use the materials provided to create a mini poster that represents your team and it’s teaching values.

  14. Blocking Behaviors - Your team will receive a scenario that a normal team would have to work through - Each person will be given a different behavior or personality to portray. - Stay in character as best as possible
