SLCC History • St. Louis Community College has been a community educator for almost 40 years providing St. Louis with top faculty and outstanding programs. • St. Louis Community College reflects the diversity of the metropolitan area and provides the most powerful forum for bringing the area’s diverse constituencies together.

SLCC Profile • Largest college in St. Louis and second largest in Missouri • 130,000 students enrolled • 55,000 credit; 75,000 career & job training • Ranked as one of the top community colleges in nation. • Ranked among the nation’s top 10 institutions for the number of associate degrees earned.

Continued… • Enrolls more African-American students than any other college in the state or in St. Louis. • SLCC has transfer agreements with many colleges and universities including University of Missouri – St. Louis, University of Missouri – Rolla, Washington University,Southeast Missouri University, among others.

Continued… • 90% of our graduates stay and work in area businesses and industry. • 98% of local employers of recent graduates say they are more than satisfied with our graduates’ performance. • 80% of recent career graduates are employed in their area of training within 6 months of graduation.

Continued… • Career Awareness Fair at the St. Louis America’s Center • Engineers Weekend at the Science Center • Career Days and Experiential Days at local schools • Explore Engineering workshops at the campus for local schools • Tech-Prep and Dual Enrollment programs with local schools • “If I Had A Hammer” Workshop

  11. Teacher Education Department • Working with Junior Achievement of Mississippi Valley, Inc. and placing @ 79 students each semester in area elementary classrooms. Students teach units developed by Junior Achievement on appropriate topics relating to basic concepts of economics and business to children in grades K-5.

Continued… • Established partnerships with Hazelwood, Ferguson-Florissant, Riverview Gardens and other local school districts placing the same students working with Jr. Achievement in Middle and High Schools each semester. These partnerships have been in effect for the past five years. • During the past two years placed @48 students each semester at Moline and Meadows Elementary Schools in the Riverview Gardens School District. These students were required to volunteer a total of 5 hours per semester to assist teachers with individual students.
