INTRODUCTION • Stratford on Avon DC has an annual State of the District Debate as per the Council’s Constitution – this is the start. • Consultation with the public and with Councillors. • This year public consultation through the Community Forums and SDC website. • Will report back to Autumn Forum on issues raised and proposed actions.

ALCESTER/BIDFORD LOCALITY CENSUS HIGHLIGHTS Comparison with all 30 localities in Warwickshire • Alcester/Bidford Locality Population = 21,488 • Higher % in the 60 to 79 age group (25%) vs. County (20%) • 2nd highest of all localities for % of Christians at 73% • Highest number of people living in static homes (5.5% vs. 0.7% County) • 7% of those in work do so mainly at or from home, the 6th highest % in County (4.3%) • Have 2nd highest number of households without central heating at 2.8% (County 2.0%) • Higher than average % of self-employed workers (20% of males & 10% of females)

ALCESTER/BIDFORD LOCALITY RESIDENTS SURVEY HIGHLIGHTS Comparison with rest of District • Affordable housing is still a major issue in this area • Higher numbers (42%) agreed they were able to influence decisions that affect local area (Average 33%) • 60% in this locality compared to average of 43% were satisfied with car parking • 46% living here were satisfied with public toilets (District Average 33%) • Above average satisfaction with WCC’s local transport information (56% vs. 48%) • Above average satisfaction with libraries (72% vs. 66%) • More residents in this locality (28%) did think teenagers hanging around streets were a problem (Average 22%)

CORE STRATEGY TIMETABLE • Proposes 9,500 homes (2008-2028) As at end 2012: 4,135 built, under construction or have planning permission – net figure 5,365 • To be considered at Council meeting on July 22nd • Six week period for making representations (September/October 2013) • Submitted to Secretary of State (January 2014) • Examination in Public (Summer 2014) • Inspector’s Report received (November 2014) • Adoption by end of 2014
