MY SEARCH ON CHILDREN IN VICTORIAN TIMES BY MISS ADITHYA
In most of the families the women had 10 children or more but sadly some of them died as babies, some as well died because of smallpox or diphtheria.
We can know if they live in rich families or poor families because rich family children wore handsome or pretty cloths, they were well fed and some went to school, the others had lessons at home, they even wore nice shoes.
The people who were poor had no shoes, they had to go to work, they had ripped cloth’s and they were not fed well.
THE WORK THEY DONE AND HOW THEY FELT • Some of the children did some work as scare crows, chimney sweeps, cleaners, sellers, workers in the coal mine. • The children were paid 1p, 2p, 4p or 5p for working in 1 week. • The coal mine workers were very scared but some times they had to open the door for the airing. • Scare crows were very sad that they had to stand from morning to evening every day in the cold.
