Democracy in Britain continued-Expanding suffrage 1860-1880: Benjamin Disraeli and William Gladstone push for reforms.-The Reform Bill of 1867: Extends the right to vote to working class men. By the 1880’s the secret ballot is passed.
Social Reforms in Britain-1833: Slavery is abolished-1850: The Death penalty is reserved only for the crimes of murder, piracy, treason, and arson. Petty criminals are sent to penal colonies.
