  4. Good Applications Launcher Screen The icons with a indicate a Good application. This screen lists the applications alphabetically, including those covered in this training presentation: Calendar Compose (Blank New Email View) Contacts Email (Inbox view) Good Mobile Intranet * Notes Tasks RSS *Your company may not use GMI and therefore this icon may not be enabled on your device.   5. Priority Inbox Icons Intuitive and familiar Inbox icons make it easy for you to identify the type status of your Inbox items.

  6. Composing a Message • Select 'Compose' from the home screen applications bar or reply to a message in your inbox • Typing the first few characters of recipient's name will present a list of Contacts. • Scroll and click to select one or use 'Lookup…' to find the name in the company address book • To send, click 'Send' button • Tips: • To look up by initials, type first initial, space, last initial • Press space twice to get '@' and '.com', '.net', '.gov' or '.org'

Replying to Messages To reply to a message, open or highlight the message and either: • Type 'R' • Select 'Reply' from the Email menu To reply all to a message, open or highlight the message and either: • Tap on the 'Reply All' button on the lower screen • Type 'A' • Select 'Reply All' from the Email menu

  8. Forwarding Messages To forward to a message, open or highlight the message and either: • Type 'F' • Select 'Forward' from the Email menu

  9. Flag for follow up To flag a message for follow up, open or highlight the message and either: • Select 'Flag for Follow Up' from Email menu • Type 'L' To flag a message for follow up, open or highlight the message and either: • Select 'Follow Up Complete' from Email menu • Type 'L'

  10. Deleting Messages To delete a message highlight the message and either: • Hit backspace • Type 'D' • Select 'Delete' from the menu Once it is deleted on the handheld, it will be automatically synchronized with your Outlook/Lotus Notes desktop application.

Filing Messages To file a message to an existing folder: • Highlight the message • Click 'M' or select 'Move' from the menu Highlight the folder you want to move the message to - when you file it on the handheld it is synched in Outlook/Lotus Notes. Tip: Type the first few letters of the folder name to highlight it

  12. Accessing Filed Messages To access filed messages: • Highlight the folder pull-down menu in the top-left corner of the Inbox screen • Click to select an existing folder If you have sub-folders, click on the top level (with the '+') to open it

  13. Email – Priority View/Priority Mail Options Priority Mail Options define what messages are marked as Priority Mail and show up in the Priority Mail View. In your Inbox view: Activate the menu > Options> Priority Mail Options Priority Mail Messages Priority view is a subset of messages, filtered by priority and arranged by date, newest at top. Priority Messages are messages that are unread and are: • Sent to you • Sent from priority senders (but not excluded senders) • Sent to certain mailing lists or recipients • Meeting requests, updates and cancellations • Marked as high importance If a message is Read, it loses its priority. However, if you mark a message as Unread again, it will regain its priority status.

  15. Conversations view sorts messages by subject into conversation groups. Conversation groups are listed by date, newest groups on top. Each group displays: Message Subject Total count of items in group Icon, sender and time stamp of most recent item in group Email – Conversations View

Senders view allows you to organize your Inbox items by sender: Senders view sorts messages by sender into groups (a count of how many items from each sender appears at the right end of the light blue bar) alphabetically View Message groups are labeled with the sender of the messages contained within them. Email – Senders View

  17. Work Offline Settings • From the Good Messaging today screen, select menu and 'Work Offline' • This is suitable when needing to turn off the radio on an airplane • Get back online by selecting the 'Send/Receive' now from the menu

  18. Many Attachments Formats Supported Supported attachment types include: • Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint • TIF, HTML, PDF • Rich Text (.RTF) and (.TXT) • Many others…

  19. Viewing Attachments Messages with attachments are marked with a paperclip icon While viewing the message: • Tap on the file name or icon, to open or use 5-way navigation and hit center key; a menu will give download options The file can be viewed in several formats or stored on the SD card

Sending Attachments Composing a Message with an Attachment: • To attach a file to a mail message, the user creates a new message in the Compose application. • The Attach File menu items are located below the Add Recipient menu item. Attaching Files: • After selecting Attach File, the user is presented with a file picker application. • Max of 16 attachments per email.

  23. Accessing Contacts • From the Good Application Screen, tap 'Contacts' • From the Good Messaging Today Screen, tap the 'Contacts' icon on the applications bar • From the Phone application, tap the 'Contacts' icon on the lower phone panel

  24. Viewing Contacts • Click on the 'Contacts' icon from the applications bar • Quick-find a contact by • Typing characters of the person's first or last name then select from menu • Type first initial, space, last initial then select from menu • Automatically dial or Email by clicking on hot-linked phone numbers and an Email address • Highlight a contact and click select 'Edit,' 'Delete' or 'View' from the menu

  25. From Contacts list: Select 'New' Fill in the relevant information for your new contact Click 'Save' This Contact, once Saved, will be sync'd back to your desktop email application automatically. Creating a New Contact

Tight integration between Email, Contacts, and the Phone applications…a fast way to call from Email Dennis Lee (415)991-4411 'Call Sender' Function Tapping the number directly initiates a call to that number - in this case, the sender From the Inbox or an open email, use the Email menu to select the 'Call Sender' command The Sender's phone number(s) are displayed based on their information in your Contacts; when more than 1 number is available, simply tap the desired number to call

  27. vCard Support - Send/Receive/Add to Contacts • When you receive a vCard from someone, simply open the email and select the vCard attachment. • The vCard can be added directly into Good Messaging Contacts using the 'Add to Contacts' menu option. The contact will now appear in your Good Messaging contacts, as well as in your Outlook contacts.

  28. Viewing the Calendar • Click on the 'Calendar' icon on the Applications bar/Home screen • Press the Calendar button on the device • View by Day, Week, Month, or Agenda view • Use 5-way the navigation key to go forward and backward on your calendar • Different colors connote appointments out of the office, confirmed, tentative, etc.

  29. Viewing the Calendar • Week view for quick scan of weekly appointments • Preview pane for appointment detail • Direct access to appointment view by selecting and tapping on particular block

  30. Creating a Calendar Entry • Tap on the desired time or date or select 'New Appointment' from the menu • Enter a Subject, Location, and in the Invite field (for meetings) begin typing the name of the person(s) to invite and the Lookup feature will

Additional Options for Calendar Entries Other options for new meetings & appointments include: • Suggested Times: • For all attendees based on their availability on their calendar • Suggested Time Options can be accessed by the 'Options' button • Suggested Rooms will look for open conference rooms • Recurrence • Edit Recurrence allows you to configure your meetings recurrence

  32. Notes/Journal • See a list of current Notes by selecting the icon from the home screen applications bar • Add new Notes by selecting 'New'

  33. Tasks/To Do's • See a list of current Tasks by selecting the icon from the home screen applications bar • Add new Tasks by selecting 'New' • Tasks can be assigned a Due Date, Reminder and Categories, as well as Priority Status

  34. RSS News provides news feed capability within the Good Messaging client. Users can subscribe to feeds, get the latest articles from those feeds and read them on the handheld. The components to the News feature are: • Notification bar • Article View/Quick Reader (article display window) • Feed List/Article List • Add Feeds/Add a Feed by URL • Edit Feed/Delete Feed

  35. Good Preferences Your handheld device includes a set of Good Preferences you can customize for your use. To view or change these preferences, select Preferences from: • Options menu on the Good Launcher screen • Options menu within any of the Good Messaging applications

  36. Preferences: Applications • Gives list and status of applications enabled by your IT administrator • Download and installation of new/updated applications is all done over the air

  37. Preferences: Autotext • Gives a full list of all auto-text abbreviations • Navigate the list by typing the first letter of the word • Autotext entries can be created, edited, or deleted using the menu

Preferences: Backup This allows users to back up their Good Mobile Messaging application to their SD card in case is need to be re-installed later • Select ‘Card Backup’ • Select ‘Create Backup Now’ • Enter 4-6 character passcode Good Mobile Messaging will backup to memory card • Note: this backs up the application only, not any e-mail or PIM data

Backing Up Using the Good Preference • From the Good Preferences screen, tap Backup • Make sure you select the Backup Location you want to use (in this case, the backup is to the SD card) • Enter a Passcode, then confirm the new passcode • Tap the Backup button • A message will alert you when the Backup has succeeded!

Restoring Good Messaging Applications You can restore the applications from the location where they were originally backed up.To restore a backup: • Start the restoration utility included with your handheld. If you used a memory card to back up your applications, make sure the card is inserted in your handheld. • Specify the location you used for backup. • When prompted, enter your passcode. You’ll only be prompted if the Good Messaging applications are missing from the handheld or are present but are a different version from those in the backup. • When prompted, select the option to restore the Good Messaging applications. • Notes: Emails, contacts, and so forth, are not backed up, but they are resynchronized with information in your Outlook or Lotus Notes account once your network connection is restored.

Preferences: Categories (Outlook) Use Categories to organize your Contacts: • Once you have assigned categories, you can sort or view contacts by category. • Good Messaging includes a set of preset categories to which you can assign your contacts or you can create new categories to suit your needs. • If you add a new category in Outlook on your desktop, it will be added to the list of categories on your handheld. The reverse is also true.

  42. Preferences: Help • Help For Preferences page gives a brief summary of each of the preferences functions

  43. Preferences: Security All policies are set and enforced by the IT admin, but can be configured on your handheld via one of the 2 Security options: • Password Lock • Storage Card Protection

Preferences: Notification Notifications can be set for a variety of events including: • New Message in Inbox and/or Other Folders • New High Priority Mail Messages • Calendar & Task/To Do Reminders • Address look-up received Alerts can be set for on-screen alerts, sounds/tunes or vibrate-mode

  45. Preferences: Status Status provides a detailed description of handheld status including: • Serial # • Phone Number • Network Address • Available Memory • E-mail log information • Battery Strength

  46. Preferences: Time Zone • Allows user to set the relevant time zone or default to the Palm time zone • Also allows Daylight Savings to be turned on or off

  47. Preferences: Today Screen • Sets the display name that appears on the Good Mobile Messaging home screen • Also programs the home key and side key to go to either the Good Mobile Messaging home screen or the Palm home screen

Tips and Shortcuts Email • Jump to top and bottom: When in a text screen (like an email) press 'T' to jump to the top and 'B' to go to the bottom of the screen. • Page Down:Press the SPACE key to page down the screen. • Add to Contacts:When reading an email, highlight the sender's name and click 'Add to Contacts' in the menu. • Special Notifications:You can specify that when receiving messages from certain people you're notified with a special tone via the 'Edit' screen for that person's contact information. • Call Sender:Call sender of an open email item by pressing the menu key and tapping ‘Call Sender’ (all known phone number for the contact will display so you can select desired phone number).

  49. Tips and Shortcuts More Shortcuts • Alert Bar (Yellow at bottom of screen): Type ‘O’ to Open the item or press ‘X’ to close the yellow alert bar (until the next item triggers another alert). • Toggle Calendar ViewsPressing the Calendar Key 4 times will toggle the 4 available Calendar views – Day, Week, Month, and Agenda
