Athena and Jane By William Gore ΓουιλιαμΓορε
Jane Gore • Jane Gore is a native of the Atlanta, Georgia area. Her mother taught Greek mythology to high school students. She has a PhD in neuroscience and currently teaches at GSU. She has lived on both sides of the Atlantic due to her husband Rusty’s 8 years in the Air Force. She has two children, William and Elizabeth. She is afraid of spiders, always helps her kids with craft projects, and LOVES reading while eating olives.
Athena • Athena is the Greek goddess of wisdom, war, and crafts. She is well known for springing fully grown with armor from Zeus’s head. She also created spiders by turning the weaver Arachne who claimed to be better than Athena into a spider. She also is the namesake of the city of Athens for giving them the first olive tree. She is one of the twelve Olympian gods and daughter of Zeus and Metis. Be careful to stay on her good side!
Athena and Jane I chose to compare Athena and my mom because they have several traits in common. For example, they both are extremely wise and love to read. We have books all around the house and my mom always gives me good advice. They also are afraid of spiders, though Athena brought it upon herself while my mom was just born that way. Athena and Jane both enjoy craft projects, and my mom always is a great help with my projects. Mom is an expert on freehand pancake shaping and cake decorating.
