LAUNCH OPERATIONS FOR THE 3LS TO BE EFFECTIVE, CERTAIN UPGRADES WILL NEED TO BE MADE TO SLC-37.
LAUNCH OPERATIONS UPGRADES 1) Rebuilding of SLC-37A Pad To Accommodate Delta IV Family SLC-37A SLC-37B
76.8-m 107.6-m LAUNCH OPERATIONS UPGRADES 2) Upgrading HIF To Allow Parallel Processing of Delta IV-Heavy Vehicles
LAUNCH OPERATIONS JUSTIFICATION OF DELTA IV VEHICLE PROCESSING TIME • By 2003 standards, the Delta IV vehicle has a maximum flight • rate of 17 per year, translating into a launch every 21 days • Each vehicle currently spends approximately • 15 days within the HIF • 6 days at the pad The proposed facility upgrades, coupled with the fact that the payloads for each vehicle are identical, should allow for multiple Delta IV-H vehicles to be processed in parallel within a similar time frame.
