TPACK-er TPACK is an acronym that stands for Technological ,Pedagogical, and Content Knowledge. More and more we see educators incorporating technology in the classroom. TPACK’s special poweris that it dissects the nature of knowledge that is required by instructors to apply technological applications in and out of the classroom for educational purposes.
One major assumption is that Knowledge about technology cannot be treated as context-free and that a good teacher needs to understand how technology relates to the pedagogy (science and art of education) and content. • Nobody owns TPACK however, Dr. Matthew Koehler who is a professor at Michigan State University of Educational Psychology and Educational Technology provides and maintains the TPACK site free of charge. • One super friend who contributes greatly to the TPACK idea is Prof. Punya Mishra who teaches Educational Psychology and Educational Technology at Michigan State University. • Punya Mishra was born in East Lansing • Although these two men greatly contribute to studying methods with TPACK many other educators contribute as well. • Other super friends include Kathryn Hershey, Lisa Peruski, Aman Yadav, Kurnia Yahya, and Yong Zhao. • References • http://mkoehler.educ.msu.edu/ • http://www.tpck.org/ • http://punya.educ.msu.edu/research/design-pedagogy • http://www.mendeley.com/research-papers/tagged/tpack/ • Integration of Technology Standards in the Classroom • http://www.tojet.net/articles/v11i3/1133.pdf
