Information Operations (IO) • Concept of Ops: • Use kinetic and non-kinetic information activities in order to achieve information dominance, influence the information environment, and protect the security of friendly information. • Objectives: • Break the SOUTHLAND forces’ will to fight. • Influence local populations to ensure Freedom of Movement. • Promote the credibility and effectiveness of CJTF SENTINEL. Information Operations (IO) • Phase 1 (Transition to Combat Operations) • Inform local population and civil authorities about JFC intentions. • Promote the credibility and effectiveness of CJTF SENTINEL. • Influence SOUTHLAND forces and SIMM to stop fighting. • Establish lines of communication with civil actors in order to set the conditions for Phase 4 Stability Operations. • Phase 2 (Defensive Operations) • Coordinate IDP movement in order to maintain freedom of movement and reduce the potential for civilian casualties. • Facilitate Bde-level deception operations as required. • Encourage civilian sensors to report on En activities. S4/S1
Information Operations (IO) • Phase 3 (Counter Attack) • Influence SOUTHLAND forces to retreat and/or surrender. • Encourage civilian sensors to report on En activities. • Conduct Battle Damage Assessments (BDA) in order to facilitate the repair, return and recovery in Phase 4. • Phase 4 (Stability Ops) • Coordinate the distribution of any Humanitarian Assistance (HA). • Facilitate the repair and recovery of civil infrastructure. • Encourage the return of IPDs. • Promote national unity and reconciliation.
