Transition Workshop Brought to you by the Student Involvement Board and the Office of Campus Activities
Basics Most organizations are currently going through the elections process. It is important to have an effective plan to transition new officers for many reasons: ~New officers will re-register your group with Campus Activities ~New officers will be in charge of the organization. If they do not know what they are doing, the organization will suffer.
Things to Think About • ~Most transitions happen at the end of the Spring semester into the Summer. • You will need to plan to work with new officers soon so they are prepared for summer deadlines including but not limited to: • Call for Programs (Due by May 4th for Fall 2012 Semester). • 240 Curry Office Space Allocation Application (Due May 18th for 2012-2013 year). • ~For larger organizations, think about having a day or a couple of days focused solely on transition • Think about having a retreat or other event to work on transition and building relationships between new officers • ~Do your new officers know your constitution? Bylaws? • Bylaws do not need to be formal like the constitution, but they will be just as helpful to your group!

Communication! Make sure your successor knows the importance of keeping in contact with your advisor!
