2. Weapons • Medieval Islamic warriors used curved swords and short bows • Islamic commanders used the mobility of their light infantry as a very powerful weapon against a vast array of enemies

One valuable tactic was a flanking maneuver Light cavalry would attack large numbers of infantry and crush them from the sides leaving the front enemy cavalry to the infantry Another useful maneuver was a pincer movement The Islamic cavalry would go around the enemy in secrecy and attack the helpless infantry and while their infantry masses up to attack the front Tactics

4. Jihad:Medieval • Jihad or holy war simply means to have a struggle within your own self • This term as been misused as to indicate violence for “religious” reasons • Jihad was also in self defense from invaders like the crusades

5. Jihad:Modern • Even today, jihad is misused by extremist groups to wage war on the United States and other European countries
