Edmodo Presentation Tammy Block Jason Sopko
Tammy Block, Jason Sopko Edmodo Presentation This presentation is intended to to given to teachers, as we both have the opportunity to use professional development time to spend with them. The slides will demonstrate how set up and use edmodo as a teaching tool in the classroom. Just as importantly, it will be to sell teachers the benefits it has by using it in the classroom setting. We chose this because we felt this is an easy, effective way for teachers to implement a blended teaching style to the students. It offers the opportunity for students to interact with the teacher or peers away from school in a meaningful way. The design of edmodo is familiar to many of our students since it set up very similar to facebook. We liked the security and the potential it has for the social aspect. This tool allows for the quietest student in class to have and voice their opinion. We like the fact that if a student or teacher is gone, they can have access to an assignment or activity from home or mobile phone.
Other uses for Edmodo 1. Create a "science fair" group and give code to all students to see projects. 2. Create a "playground" where students can share funny happenings and/or quotes. 3. Create a "current events" group where students can post for others to see. 4. 21st century field trip - assign in small groups with a phone - post scavenger hunt questions for students. 5. Create a "milestone" group(s) for schedules, games, birthdays, or other events
-other uses continued 6. Give parents the class code so they can keep up to date with happenings or assignments. 7. Use to require students to ask you questions about a topic they wouldn't normally ask in the classroom. 8. Set up small groups for a debate on a particular topic. 9. Allow students to micro-blog. 10. Set up PLC's for teachers.
