Ground Rules • Respect the views of others • We do not have to agree, but rather listen • Respond to the idea - not the person • Be creative • Don’t talk in paragraphs – too long to make your point • Only one person talks at a time • Openly voice any concerns or disagreement with others-minimize sidebar conversations • Keep feet on the ground – be practical and stay on point • Consult agenda to keep on track • Use the “Parking Lot” to come back to issues • Turn off cell phones

Watershed Technical Team’s (WTT) Role and Purpose The LWP process is “not”… • About road projects and meeting environmental review related criteria • Addressing endangered species issues alone • About specifically fixing floodprone areas or inadequate stormwater situations • Requesting that local governments adopt regulations Although the recommendations of the plan could relate to, help, or bring about actions related to any or all of these, this is not predetermined at the outset

  11. 3 questions to determine if you are the correct person for the Watershed Technical Team • Does your agency/organization have a vested interest in water quality in these watersheds and would otherwise not be represented if you were not here? • Do you control data or have specific knowledge that would inform this Local Watershed Plan that no one else at this table has? • Are you willing to act in an advisory role throughout this initial data gathering phase and willing to participate in future phases of this planning effort? • Who is not at the table that should be?

  12. What does commitment mean? In order to have the most efficient and effective planning process possible, group members subscribe to the following: • Make every effort to attend the meetings. At different points in the process, it may be helpful to bring or send in place of yourself colleagues with special expertise. • Share information discussed in the meeting with the appropriate people in your organization. • Work as team players and share all relevant information. • Look for mutually beneficial solutions. • Follow through on your commitments. • You are a resource as well as a beneficiary of resources. • Commit to issues in which you have an interest.
