According to the website, www.tree.com, the average adult sleeps only 6.9 hours a night. • According to sleep statistics from 2002’s Sleep in America Poll, 35 percent of Americans report insomnia every night. • College students are part of the group with only 6.9 hours or less of sleep per night. You are not the only one who is “Sleep Deprived”

According to www.Tree.com, 37 percent of Americans report that sleepiness interferes with daily functions like: work performance, relationships and grades. • Lack of sleep decreases your ability to concentrate and results in more errors in work. • Pulling an all-night cram session can sometimes do more harm than good on your next day exams!. • You tend to not remember anything from the night you studiedand also "wiped out" for the next few days. How can “Sleep Deprivation” affect your grades?

Wind Down • Relax 30 to 60 minutes before you go to bed try to avoid over stimulus. • Relax • Listen to some soft music, Take a warm shower and write down a detailed list of what is in your head and worry about the list tomorrow • Avoid • Late night eating and major exercising. If you have a test the next day, partying the night before and not getting enough sleep is never a good idea. • Using sleep medications without a doctor's recommendation is ill-advised and may do more harm than good. • Taking a "Power Nap", a 20-30 minute nap during the day, can be very beneficial. It can put you in a better mood. It can refresh you. You may feel sharper and able to concentrate better. However, sleeping more than 80 minutes can hurt your sleeping schedule so WATCH OUT!
