Location. • Jiangsu is located at: Lat.30° 46' to 35° 07' NLong.116° 22' to 121° 55' E • Jiangsu borders Shandong in the north, Anhui to the west, and Zhejiang and Shanghai to the south. Jiangsu has a coastline of over one thousand kilometers along the Yellow Sea, and the Yangtze River passes through its southern parts

Physical Characteristics • Bodies of water: Taihu Lake, Hongze Lake, Lake Gaoyou, Lake Luoma, Yangcheng Lake • Landforms: Flat and low, with plains covering about 68% of its total area (water covers another 18 percent) • Climate: Jiangsu has a warm, humid, and subtropical climate zones • Natural Vegetation: Cotton, soybeans, peanuts, sesame, ambary hemp, tea, peppermint, spearmint, bamboo, medicinal herbs, apples, pears, peaches, loquats, ginkgo, and silkworms.
Human Characteristics • Population: 75,500,000 • Ethnic Groups: Han Chinese, Hui, and Manchus • Language: Chinese language, Mandarin, and Wu. • Culture: Their culture is more southern than the rest and the Wu.
